Aloha on the Quad

By Devan Cooley

On Wednesday, April 9th, the University of Montevallo's department of Housing and Residence Life put on their annual Luau on Main Quad. The event was open to all anyone who could attend, and featured free food, a rock climbing wall, a DJ, and even a snow-cone truck.

The rock climbing wall was a big hit!
The event has been being planned for several months, and Resident Assistant Quincy Hall was one of the head organizers, and said, " Its been a very great experience. I have a co-coordinator that worked on this with me, and its been great to have all of the housing staff and RHA work together to make something like this happen. Something this big takes a lot of planning, and a lot of work to get to this point, so we definitely have to plan way in advance."

Corn-hole, the game of choice for Housing.
Housing and Residence Life host a large number of events throughout the year, and the Luau is one of the biggest and most anticipated. The turnout was strong, with a few hundred students showing up for the fun. Freddie the Falcon made appearances at the event, and those in attendance had a great time.
