Orr Park hosted Montevallo's 8th annual art festival Saturday April 12th. Artists sold a wide variety of items, ranging from jewelry made from clocks to chainsaw sculpture. Students and long-time Montevallo residents alike strolled through the park perusing and buying the art, and enjoying the concessions and live music.
The festival is put on every year by the Montevallo Art Council. Steve Gilbert, who is on the board of directors for the art council, says that they aim to "make a presence in the community" with this event and help gain interest in some of their other projects and events. These include workshops in painting, writing, and many other artistic areas.
If you would like to set up a booth at next years art festival, you must get the approval of the art council, and pay a small fee. Fees vary depending on whether you have crafts, art, or are a student. The student fee is the most economical, costing around $20.
