Students had the time of their lives as they took the stage and sung their favorite songs. UPC hosted karaoke night in Farmer hall at the University of Montevallo. The event was successful as a line began to form as more students wanted to get on stage.

Karaoke is a form of entertainment that people sing along to popular songs. It is typically popular at bars and clubs.

Karaoke at UM allowed students to have fun and be their selves. One student, Marcos Cruz, described the experience as “thrilling” as he “got into the spirit.”

Cruz, along with another student Bryana Gregory, were first to perform, selecting a Destiny’s Child song. Both Cruz and Gregory jumped on stage to “welcome people” to join in.

Their efforts were not in vain, as people slowly began making their way towards the sign up table.

“People can accept you for being silly and that you can’t really sing and they’ll still listen to you,” Gregory said about what was the best thing about karaoke.

With karaoke, students were able to break down their walls for the night and just express their selves.

Karaoke isn’t just about the song you sing or how well you do it but it’s about having the courage to do it in the first places.
