Women's Lacrosse Provides "Glimmers of Hope"

By: Matt Haskins

The women's lacrosse team took to the practice field following their scrimmages last Saturday.
I met up with Head Coach Frank Rogers to talk about their thoughts on the scrimmages.

" I guess the thing that made me real happy is that usually when you play multiple games as you move on it gets harder and they got stronger as the day went on." said Coach Rogers.
He explained that with the effort and attitude his girls played with provided him with "glimmers of hope."
One thing he and his coaching staff stressed in practice this week was defensive positioning.
"The biggest thing we've been working on is our defensive positioning and movement; we weren't really happy on the defensive end so we made alot of adjustments and worked a lot on that."
Team Captain Maddie Ellis spoke about her role as a leader on the team and stressed that in order to be successful you need to know your strengths and trust your teammates.
"It's all about trusting your teammates and having each others back and that's something you really have to reiterate as a leader and lead by example."
The Falcons begin their inaugural campaign February 5 against Birmingham-Southern.
